      @@qcmanufacturing hard to believe a fan will completely do the cooling job and eliminate the need for a AC unit. Kind a a stretch to say that…. But then again, I am in a older home with grandfathered efficiency codes that cause this house to not to as efficient as newer ones. Hope I didn’t offend you on a personal level.

      You only run your whole house fan when it’s cooler outside than inside. So you would never turn it on if your house was already cooled from the AC.

    Hi I live in an old house in Los Angeles with pretty steep attic but no insulation, will adding an attic fan help cool down the living spaces underneath ? I know it definitely will bring down the temperaure in the attic, but the rooms underneath is what I concerned most, thanks ! I was told that improvement is significant when there is no insulation installed...

    people said that whole house fan creates pressure in the attic and is not good. Is that true? Another question is why install the fan in the attic? why not just install it on a wall so that it directly sucks stale air out of the house? Thanks

    • @qcmanufacturing
      @qcmanufacturing 5 днів тому

      The attic is the hottest part of the home. You want to discharge the whole house fan air in the attic so you can push out all the old hot air and introduce cool fresh air. This will keep your home cool.

    • @qcmanufacturing

      They work in all 50 states but depending on the region could have different use cases. For instance if you live in a climate zone like Texas, Florida or even phoenix arizona the whole house fan will work great in the spring in and fall but not the summer months. Most people run their ac system 10 months a year in those markets and with a whole house fan you can cut the usage down to 3-4 months. This will also help you save a ton of money and prolong the life of your ac system by doubling it.

    • @qcmanufacturing
      @qcmanufacturing 10 днів тому

      @@qcmanufacturing no sir.. The old fashion attic fan pulled air out of the house and pushed it into the attic. There was no "Tubing" like you use. The old attic fans sat in the jam of the ceiling. So the interior was on 1 side, and the attic was on the other. So no tubing was needed. And they were HUGE fans. When the fan was off, there were Slats that separated the attic from the interior. And when you turned on the Fan, the slats got pulled open. It was a simpler design than what you installed in this video. THe big fans are great for large houses, but smaller houses do not need such a large fan. The small size that you installed is probably more appropriately sized for an average house 2000 sf or less. My grandparents had a HUGE fan and their house was only like 1500 square feet.. And the interior was like a vortex, it pulled so much air.. but you know, the fans also pull in a lot of dirt from outside

      @@mrchad97z49 My house was built in the early 70s and it has an attic fan about 12" in diameter. I kicks on when the outdoor temps are above 100 degrees. (So that's like a million degrees in the attic). It draws air from soffit vents, and roof vents, and I leave the garage manhole open so it can use that hole too to reduce the static pressure. The attic fan is like a box fan, but the fan in this video is more of a tube axial fan that moves more air, and it actually needs ducting for it to work correctly. It's designed to pull/draw air faster than a box fan, which is designed to circulate air, and the fan/squirrel cage in an HVAC which is designed to push air. Tube axial fans are used in paint booths to filter large volumes of air. The one in the video moves about 750cfm so the flow inside your house isn't too windy. Whereas a paint boot tube axial will/can move 3500+cfm and it's enough to hold empty paint cans next to the filter, and pull the hat off your head at the same time.

    Sounds great but it depends on the evening temp and humidity. I have a whole house fan but I rarely use it in the summer due to insanely high humidity. It would make the house insanely humid and the AC will now have to work hard to bring down the humidity inside the house. In theory this sounds great but in practice it only works in very specific environments.

      Most places cool off at night unless you live in an extreme climate like phoenix, Vegas and some other markets. Those markets you run your ac 10 months a year and that’s when you use the whole house fan in the spring and fall and limit your ac useage to 3-4 months a year. This is important because your ac only last 12.5 years on a national average the the whole house fan will extend the life of your ac due to running it less and putting less wear and tear on it. Inverters are for dc to ac power theyre not needed to take energy from the grid. Battery/solar to grid usually. If youre taking energy from the grid to a DC system you would use a rectifier. Unless the fan is AC then it wouldn't need anything. Did you mean that the inverter can put power back into the grid but also use grid power if needed? Or is it only grid powered compatible?

    • @qcmanufacturing

      You’re missing the entire concept. Every where across the country there is a 20-50 degree temp swing from day and night. You use the whole house fan when it’s cooler outside than inside. This is usually the morning, evening and nighttime hours. When you run the whole house fan all night you pre cool the home to what ever the low temp is for the day. Now it’s going to take a lot longer for your house to heat up and if you need to use AC it’s minimal. AC system only last 12 years on a national avg. it’s also the most expensive appliance to run. So when you can cut out half of your ac useage you can double the life of your AC system and save money on your energy costs. Then there is the comfort and IAQ benefits as well.

      Your ac during the summer can cool your home down to the low 70s where a WHF can cool it down to low the 60s and it run at 1/15th cost. Whole house fans are the V in HVAC. You want both the AC and the whole house fan in your system. It will make your HVAC system twice as efficient when used properly.

      @@qcmanufacturing how can whf cool it that much when its still 90 outside at night?

    • @qcmanufacturing
      @qcmanufacturing 21 день тому

      @sticksbass where do you live? There’s only handful of places that don’t cool off at night during the summer. In those climates you normally run your ac 10 months of the year and you can use the WHF during spring and fall and cut down the ac useage to only around 3-4 months a year.

      Yes, we do have future plans for it. It’s not our yet but when it does you will be able to add it older systems as well.

    A box fan would blow harder than that in a 3x3 foot box

    • @qcmanufacturing
      @qcmanufacturing 22 дні тому

      Where are you getting your facts from? Box fans can’t move as much air flow or handle the pressure that these fans move.

    so you have to shut it off when you're running the ac?

    • @qcmanufacturing
      @qcmanufacturing 22 дні тому

      Yes, you run your whole house fan in the evening, morning and night time hours when it’s cooler outside than inside. You will use your ac during the day when needed.

  • @tlxreed
    @tlxreed 22 дні тому

    Aren't you just sucking air conditioned air out of your living area to cool off an attic space. Plus without proper ventilation, the attic space becomes pressurized. A lot easier to do with this passive ventilation to cool off the attic.

    • @qcmanufacturing
      @qcmanufacturing 22 дні тому

      No, because you would never run the system when your house is cooled. You only run it when it cooler outside and than inside. When the air goes into the attic it’s going to push out all the hot air cooling the hottest part of the house. Your house stays hot because your walls and attic gets up to temperatures of 150 degrees which causes ac cycling. Ac cycling is bad because it takes 20 straight min of run time for your ac to hit its peak efficiency.

  • @lauriehyde7338
    @lauriehyde7338 23 дні тому

    Thanks for responding! I understand. The previous fan was hardwired, so I do not have an outlet nearby, just 12 gauge Romex with white, black, and ground. I would add an outlet to the end and then use the fan plug?

  • @lauriehyde7338
    @lauriehyde7338 24 дні тому

    Can this be hardwired if electrical connection already exists?

    • @qcmanufacturing
      @qcmanufacturing 23 дні тому

      It comes plug and play ready with a 20 ft power cord. You just need to plug it in an outlet.

    Where is this cool fresh air coming from outside?? Its hot af out here.

    • @qcmanufacturing
      @qcmanufacturing 24 дні тому

      You don’t run it during the day. You only run it when it’s cooler outside than inside. If you live in a hot climate zone like Texas or Arizona the fans work great during the spring and fall. If you live in California it’s cools off every night during the summer just like the upper west coast and pacific north west and mountain states.
